AN AFFIRMATION OF FAITH FOR
CLAYTON CHRISTIAN CHURCH
SUBMITTED BY THE CHURCH ELDERS

1. We affirm that there is one God, infinitely perfect and eternally existent in the persons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4,5; John 1:1-5,14; John 16:5-15).

2. We affirm the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory (John 14:5-14; Matthew 1:18-25; John 8:46; II Corinthians 5:21; The 4 Gospels; Acts 1: 1-13).

3. We affirm the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We affirm the fullness of the Holy Spirit as the empowerment of the Christian for witness and service. ( Romans 12: 6-8; I Corinthians 12, 13, 14)

4. We affirm the Bible to be the Holy Spirit inspired, authoritative Word of God and that it is eternally reliable. (II Timothy 3:16,17)

5. We affirm that salvation is by grace, through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-10). We affirm that repentance toward God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation (John 3:1-21). We affirm believer's baptism by immersion in obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 2:37,38; Romans 6:1-6).

6. We affirm the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those that are saved to the resurrection of life and those that are lost to eternal separation from God.
(I Corinthians 15:12-58)

7. We affirm the one, universal Church which is the Body of Christ. We affirm Christ as its head. We affirm all who are born-again as its members. We affirm the church's purpose as offering worship to God, fellowship, ministry and instruction to itself, and evangelism and service to the world. We affirm the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Ephesians 4:1-16; Acts 2:42)

8. We affirm the importance of regular participation at the divinely instituted Table of our Lord known as the Lord’s Supper or Communion. (Acts 2:41,42)

9. We affirm the ministry and presence of angels; the reality of the devil and demonic forces (Ephesians 6: 10-18).

10. We affirm the sanctity of life (Genesis 2:7; Exodus 20:13), moral purity,
(I Corinthians 6:12-20), and the sacredness of Christian marriage
(Matthew 19:4-6).
