Handle Criticism, Forgive Freely and Choose Joy: Recap
Over these past few weeks, Pastor Nathan has reminded us of three life-changing truths — how to handle criticism, pursue forgiveness, and choose joy. The words we speak and the commitments we live by shape the direction of our lives (Proverbs 18:21). Each of these areas challenges us to live more like Jesus — humble, gracious, and joy-filled.
When it comes to criticism, be realistic. Be wise and evaluate it accurately. Be discerning, because hurt people often hurt people. Be prayerful and draw on God’s strength. Be focused and keep your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2).
Criticism doesn’t have to crush you — it can refine you. When handled with grace, it becomes a tool God uses to mature your faith. Forgiveness is another essential part of our walk with Christ. Four truths remind us why it matters: Forgiveness is canceling a debt (Ephesians 4:32) Forgiveness is commanded (Colossians 3:13) Forgiveness i s a powerful witness (Matthew 6:14) Forgiveness is healthy — it frees our hearts. Choose Jesus by making a declaration today: I release the debt, I walk in grace, and I will not let bitterness rule my heart.
Finally, Pastor Nathan reminded us that a joyless Christian just doesn’t exist. Your past has been forgiven, and your future is secure (Philippians 4:4). The level of joy in your life is directly related to your priorities. There’s a direct correlation between joy and your pursuit of contentment. When finding joy seems impossible, remember — Jesus makes it possible (John 15:11).
Today, choose joy. Choose forgiveness. Choose to respond to criticism with grace. These choices lead to freedom, peace, and a life that reflects the heart of Christ.
Move beyond words; live transformed and fully satisfied in Jesus. Choose to live out your Delcarations.
Prayer: Lord, help me to handle criticism with wisdom, to forgive as You’ve forgiven me, and to live with a joy that shines even in hard times. Thank You that in You, I have strength, healing, and unshakable joy. Amen.
