Take Responsibility: Recap (Oct. 5)

Published October 8, 2025

Pastor Nathan opened Sunday with a look at a contrast of Joseph and Aaron—but our main focus lands in Genesis 3. Before that, Genesis 1:27 reminds us we are made in the image of God. We’re created to reflect Him—nothing else in creation carries that same dignity.

In Genesis 3:6 , Eve eats the fruit, but Adam is right there beside her—silent and frozen in guilt. Instead of leading and owning the situation, he hides. And we do the same. We avoid responsibility and hope the moment passes...🫣

Genesis 3:11–13. Whew! My neck is hurting from all of the finger pointing! This passage shows how quickly blame spreads. Adam blames Eve. Eve blames the serpent. And blame still keeps us stuck today. When we cast blame, we can’t grow or move forward. We want to retreat, avoid, manipulate and redirect the issue. At some point, we have to face the contributions we make. We can’t make peace with our past or walk in God’s future if we continue.

Blame forfeits your power to change. It keeps you tied to what happened instead of who God’s calling you to become. Jesus didn’t die for you to stay stuck—He invites you to freedom and responsibility. Take off your Alabatross, the weight of guilt and shame, and surrender it to Him.

We live in a culture that celebrates and lives in the unrelenting circling of the victim story. But in Christ, we are victors! Let’s live like it.

Reflect:

– Who am I blaming?

– Where do I need to take responsibility instead of casting blame?

Declaration:

“With God’s help and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I will take responsibility for my life. I will no longer blame others for where I am. The buck stops with me.”

And if your pain truly wasn’t your fault, remember—God still invites you to seek His healing. Reach out for prayer, support, or Christian counseling. You don’t have to walk alone.
